Faye Bradbrook, Director and Teacher
Faye Bradbrook established DramaWorks Theatre Company in 2008. Faye is English and has been living in Budapest since 2006. Faye trained as an actress and dancer with the YEM Theatre School, Hampshire, U.K. She gained her teaching diplomas with the London College of Music at Thames Valley University and the Professional Teachers of Dance. Faye is also a qualified English Language teacher.
In 2001 Faye opened the ‘Little Dragon Theatre Company' in which she worked as a director, teacher and children's entertainer. She wrote and performed a variety of magical stories for children. After moving to Budapest Faye continued her enthusiasm for Theatre in Education as a teacher of Drama and English. "I believe the imagination is a wonderful tool for teaching and learning, especially for young children".
Faye continues to work as a performer on stage and her most recent performances include 'The System of Dr Pagan' performed at the Merlin International Theatre, the voice of Gunhild in ‘Egil the Last Pagan' and playing the parts of Flicker in the ‘Three Little Pigs', Henrietta in ‘I Am Not A Robot', Sarah in ‘Clone Alone' for Broken Reins Theatre in Education and Jen in 'Hangovers' with Budapest Secret Theatre.
Sloan Thompson, Drama and Music Theatre Teacher
Actor and director Sloan Thompson is currently in her third season with DramaWorks. A graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts Drama Program, Sloan is the primary acting and musical theater teacher for our Saturday Drama School, our Professional Teens Acting Course, and our Adult Acting Courses. In this role, she has directed 10 shows with DramaWorks (please visit our gallery for pictures Sloan's productions!) and looks forward to an exciting 2018 spring season!
Sloan has been involved in acting, singing, and dance as long as she can remember, but she most recently performed as Eulalie Shinn in Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man" and as Matilde in Wash Westmoreland's upcoming film "Colette". As a working actor, Sloan is able to give valuable insights and practical tips to students of all ages about the theater and film industry.
In addition to her work in theater, Sloan is also an English teacher at Krudy Gyula Altalanos Iskola in Budapest's third district. She has been a teacher at Krudy since 2014, and in that role has learned to teach children of all ages and English-speaking abilities.
Lori Baldwin, Drama Teacher
Lori graduated in 2011 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in Performance Studies and International Studies. She later earned a Master in International Performance Research, studying at the University of Warwick, the University of Amsterdam, and the University of Belgrade. She completed her degree in December 2013, and moved to Budapest in January 2014 to begin working with DramaWorks and to pursue other artistic projects.
In Budapest, Lori continues to perform and develop new work together with her collaborator. They initiated a Performance Studies group called ‘Still Untitled’ and are currently developing a new devised performance, ‘Bestiario.’ She also continues training in aerial skills and partner acrobatics.
Lori has taught workshops in drama and devising techniques in the USA, Spain, Serbia, the Netherlands, and Hungary. She has also performed independently and with collectives, preferring a collaborative creative process. She believes strongly in the importance of arts in education, both for children and adults, and in the creative potential in everyone.
Christine Szarko, Drama and Music Theatre Teacher
Christine is pleased to have joined the DramaWorks faculty in September of 2017. A passionate performer and believer in the value of the arts, Christine began dancing and acting at a very young age and continued into a career in modern and contemporary dance as a performer and choreographer, and later as a producer and artistic director of companies, collectives, musical theatre revues, and as a master teacher and adjudicator.
She trained in Vancouver and New York, earning two diplomas in Modern Dance and Performance, as well as two in Horticulture and Landscape Design; after all, life is all about growing. Presently, Christine is a working film and commercial actor and teacher, residing in Budapest, Hungary.
Scott Alexander Young, Acting Coach and Film Studies
